However, that didn't stop he kids from coming out and having some fun on skis. December 28th, 2007- Our first event of the year was an Empire State Games Ski-O. We saw over 40 competitors come from all over the Northeast for this event. The course was set by Adirondack Orienteering Klub and we had plenty of snow making for a great event. November Trail Work Days Dewey Mountain trail work Saturdays have been a great success. With help from the money raised through Dewey Mountain Friends and the Saranac Lake Rotary, we have been able to replace many of the old bridges and improve drainage making trails drier and safer for all users. Our trail improvment goal is to give all users safer, and more userfriendly trails. With the same improvements we will be able to have great skiing conditions with less snow accumulation. Doug Bencze helps improve the runoff drainage on our trails. Larger drainage pipes are taking the place of deteriating wooden bridges and help make the trails at Dewey dryer and safer for users. Steve and Dave replace old rotten bridges with large colvert pipes along with helping the water move under trails, insted of over the trails. North Country Community College students lend a helping hand. NCCC student have been volunteering for the years now and play a key role in the improvements being made. Randy Young, long time Dewey Mountain friend, is the master of the weed wacker.
